Chief Customer Officer

Edgar Kasenene

Edgar is currently the Chief Customer Officer and co-founder of IDEX Africa. An organization co-founded with Jean Philbert Nsegimnana the former Minister of ICT of Rwanda to help drive transformation efforts and build platform companies across the continent in this digital Era. He was previously CEO for Africa of Retro Rabbit which was an offshoot of one of South Africa’s leading software companies.

 

Edgar also held roles as Director and Head of Innovation, IoT and Emerging Business Africa for Ericsson, and before that Head of Cloud and IP Services for Ericsson in Africa. He was also Program Director of Ericsson’s first Smart Cities strategic start in Rwanda in 2015. Edgar has held various leadership, strategy, sales and technical positions in MTN and Ericsson in the UK, South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, and Zambia.

 

He has more than 20 years of professional experience, mostly in the ICT sector, but has spent the last 3 years working with emerging technologies and innovation roles across Africa; trying to help leading companies navigate this new digital era. He is currently engaged with some of the leading organisations in Uganda and SA as both a platform partner and transformation partner.

 

Edgar holds a Master’s of Science in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Manchester (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University in Uganda

Head of Administration and Human Resources

Ivan Turyamureba

He previously held roles as Head of Administration for Retro Rabbit, Human Resource Officer for Ericsson AB overseeing Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Madagascar, and before that Local Administration Specialist for Ericsson AB, Ivan was also a Human Resource Administrator for Ericsson AB in 2009.

He has more than 10 years of professional experience, mostly in the HRM profession. In the past 24 months Ivan has executed effective strategic and operational planning, monitoring, and reporting to enhance the decision-making process of the company by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the administration. He has set up an effective learning and employee engagement strategy outside the normal work routines. He has supported the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems in Ericsson Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Ivan holds a Post Graduate Diploma from Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Makerere University.

Co-founder and Director

Jean Philbert Nsegimana

Phil’s career spans the public sector, academic, international development and the private sector. Most recently, Phil served as the Minister of Youth and ICT of Rwanda for 6 years. During his tenure, Phil spearheaded the Smart Africa Alliance and YouthConnekt Africa – two pan African organizations at the intersect of policy, partnership and technology with a focus on digital transformation and youth empowerment.

Phil is the Honorary Chairperson of the Alliance for Affordable Internet and has been a member of the World Economic Forum Future Council on Digital Economy and Society.

He holds an MBA from SP Jain School of Global Management in Singapore, a Master’s degree in Software Engineering and he is an MPA Candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
